Frank Eye enjoys the almost obsessively repetitive nature of working on such a large project.
Working with the weather; doing the research on sunny days and waiting for wet and wintry days to go out for the shooting, takes one close to nature in a way that studio practice lacks. The formulaic nature of the project affords a certain comfort, once the parameters of the typology are established.
Soliciting help from members of the public, on the street, in shops, pubs and garages is good fun. Initial reticence and even denial are soon replaced with realisation, recall, enthusiasm and encouragement.
